I recently took a promotion in my work - I promoted myself to Evil Genius at the Eighth Circle of Hell. I deserve the promotion, I earned it and I'm going to keep it, by hook or by crook.
Why do I deserve such a title? Am I evil? No, not really but I can appear to be so - when the occasion arises. I have a sharp tongue - or put another way: I say what I feel. I have a sharp and ready wit - again, another way of saying that I say what I think. Sometimes it may seem harsh but mostly it's meant to be amusing (at least to me). Does that make me a bitch? In some opinions, probably - but, I like the phrase: When I want your opinion, I'll remove the duct tape.
I like the darker side of life, it has its own splashes of colour and humour if you know where to look.
Mayhem and chaos have their own hints of amusing symmetry with 'the real world' - the story of lads who stole the numberplate from a Speed Camera van, put it on their own car and got the van 17 tickets is chaos, it's based in a place where rules are broken rather than adhered to. "Borrow a thousand and worry about making the payments. Borrow a million, let them worry" is another favourite saying of mine. Again, humour found in bucking the system, sticking it to 'the man'. We'd all like the idea of natural justice when it comes right down to it, but that would certainly lead right back to the dark ages where we struggled to emerge from.
But would 'natural justice' serve us? I see an awful lot of rescue sites in social media, they have animals at their heart and look to their best interests above even their own. Is that a bad thing? In my opinion, no, it's not but it doesn't stop the abuse of animals. That's where natural justice might come in handy. The people who use dogs for sport - dog fighting etc, if they were shoved in a cage, starved and beaten until they became so angry, confused and desperate to escape that they would fight anything put in front of them, would that be 'fair and just' treatment? We'd only need to do it to one or two, word would soon get around... but that's mayhem speaking.
Those young men who gang raped and videoed their attack on a young girl - are they evil? The media would have us believing that they are the victims not her. Now, if you're looking for some real evil, there it is.
So, back to it... am I evil? No, I'm chaos and mayhem. Evil is doing harm and laughing about it. Evil is destroying a young woman's life and crying in court in the hope of mercy. Evil is denying a rapist did anything wrong, evil is blaming the victim. Natural justice, as one of my friends has said, would be for those two (and all the other rapists) to be flung in a cell occupied by well endowed men more powerful than they are and left to their sentence.
I could be terribly 'evil' given the power and half a chance. I'd set right all the wrongs I could see and then go searching for more. Would I abuse the power? Well... here's another saying:
Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
